Although the existence of many turtles is threatened, the green turtles around Julian Rocks seem to have found  a refuge where they can swim, eat and sleep. The turtle photographed below was not worried by the camera at all and even inspected the red filter. Adult green turtles are the only turtles that are strictly vegetarian. In sheltered areas around Julian Rocks the fragile fan corals have found their niche. Often the polyps are extended and filter the water for food particles. 

The fans provide shelter for many little critters, which can only be found when looking really closely.
