Splendour in the Grass 2009 to be at new site North Byron Shire Parklands
Yesterday on 31 July 2008, Byron Shire Council moved to approve the DA from Splendour in the Grass organisers to hold a one off trail event at North Byron Shire Parklands in 2009.
The North Byron Shire Parklands, locally known as Yelgun Flats, is located on Tweed Valley Way/Jones Rd, North Ocean Shores & Wooyung. It is considered a suitable site because of its large land size of 660 acres, it has a minimal number of neighbours and good road access that is adjacent to the Yelgun motorway interchange, 1.5kms from the proposed carpark entrance for the festival.
Congratulations to the Splendour in the Grass organisers for finally getting this test approved. We look forward to see how Splendour works out there.
In regards to Splendour in the Grass accommodation for 2009, of course PLANULA is still the best place to stay despite no longer being right next door. Warm and cosy and on the ‘right side of town’ for easy access to the highway to splendour it up.
